From Behind the Computer to the Spotlight:
Jennix’ journey as a Speaker
The Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Spring National College Media Conference, held from March 6-8, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach, California, brought together collegiate journalists and advisers from across the nation.
Standing in front of an audience of eager minds at The Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Spring National College Media Conference was an exhilarating experience for Jennix, to her design is more than just a profession—it’s a form of storytelling, a way to redefine identity, and a medium to leave a lasting impact. She had the opportunity to share a vision that would shape the future of CSULB’s newspaper of record.
Along with her colleagues, the presentation, "Redefining Identity: The Future of CSULB’s Newspaper of Record," was an exploration into the evolution of the publication’s branding. The newspaper had a long history, but its identity needed a refresh—something modern yet timeless, something that would resonate with the university’s dynamic and diverse student body.
Jennix’ design journey began with research, an in-depth analysis of the newspaper’s past branding and its impact. Every element—logos, typography, and color choices—told a story of where the publication had been. But where was it going next? That was the question Jennix sought to answer. Through meticulous study of audience perception and industry trends, a new visual identity began to take shape, one that honored the past while paving the way for the future.
At the heart of this transformation was the brand kit process, a strategic approach to ensuring consistency and clarity across all platforms. Jennix carefully curated a palette of colors, a set of typefaces, and a logo that would define the newspaper’s new look. This wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about creating a cohesive identity that editors, designers, and readers could all connect with. The result was more than a rebrand—it was a revival of the newspaper’s presence in the digital modern age.
For Jennix, this conference was more than just an event—it was a milestone in a lifelong journey of creativity. The experience reinforced the power of design as a tool for communication and transformation. With new opportunities on the horizon, Jennix remains committed to pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling, eager to explore what’s next in the ever-evolving world of design.
